About Us

Uncle Bob’s Ice Cream is a new venture for the Robinson family of Startifants Farm, which is situated on the outskirts of the picturesque village of Chipping in the heart of the Forest of Bowland.
In 2005, due to the falling price of milk, Bob and James, who run the farm had a choice: either diversify or stop producing milk altogether.
They didn’t want to sell the cows and after talking things through we decided that making ice cream would be the best way to use the milk from our small herd of Ayrshire and Jersey cows.
We obtained a grant towards the cost of converting one of the farm buildings and researched the various machines and equipment available. All this took some time and it was not until late 2006 that the first ice cream was produced. It was sampled by family and friends who all wanted to know when we were making some more!
The ice cream is available to buy from our village shop, as well as wholesale to local cafes and restaurants and we also offer a delivery service for our local customers.
